Gayle McPherson and Nola Brown founded the corporation known as Eagle Nest Ministry, Winfield, Kansas, a place where women mentor women. Eagle Nest’s primary mission was designed to help women succeed. It is a place where women may obtain the skills to achieve success in life at virtually every level and in practically any environment by providing women the opportunity to acquire the skills they need to excel. Eagle Nest offers computer classes, Bible studies, and a myriad of programs which focus on job skills, individual development, parenting skills, and heightening self-esteem.
Eagle Nest believes in the formula of clothing women on the inside, as well as on the outside. Dressing for success when going on job interviews is a focal point in the job skills training area. As a part of this process, quality clothing items in very nice condition which are donated to the ministry are available for purchase by the general public, but the clothing items are also available at no cost to those who otherwise could not afford them. Wigs, turbans and prostheses are also available at no charge for women who are undergoing cancer treatment.
Each year, Eagle Nest assists hundreds of women who come not only from the community of Winfield, Kansas, but from neighboring communities as well, including metropolitan areas such as Wichita.
Many organizations have now come to refer people to the ministry, including state and county social service agencies, churches, the Red Cross, police departments, and the list grows. The Salvation Army has now even added a local office at the ministry location.
At Eagle Nest, lives are changed by opening doors and working toward attainable opportunities. The ministry has helped to improve the local community by building up individuals to become a successful and vibrant part of society. With a new outlook on life’s possibilities and a new and positive attitude, the individual is lifted up in spirit which in turn contributes to their success as an overall part of the community as a whole.
Gayle McPherson has been recognized by both Business and Professional Women and the Soroptimists as Woman of the Year and has been presented with the Community Cornerstone Award. My family and I are proud to call her friend and Sister in the Lord. She and the staff at Eagle Nest are some of the most awesome people you will ever meet... and so are their graduates. I am proud to have designed the logo for Eagle Nest Ministry and pray that their success continues.
